PTO has provided a variety of activities and assemblies to enrich our students' educational experiences.

Art Spot visited the school in September to complete a beautiful butterfly mural that was started by the current fourth graders at Memorial School. The students at Brewster completed the mosaic mural and this past fall it was hung in the main hallway for all students and visitors to see.

The 'Make a Good Choice" Assembly was a fun assembly for the students. The students were engaged in activities  about learning how to be a good friend, making good choices when things are hard, and being brave. The facilitator of the assembly had the students participate in scenarios and songs to reinforce good behavior. The students left the gym singing songs and smiling.

The "Magic of Books" assembly was a collaboration between the PTO and the reading team at Brewster to highlight Dr. Seuss and Read Across America week. Thomas Warren (Tommy Jones) told stories and the students participated in being the "magicians" in his stories.  It's often hard to please all audiences from grades k to 3. The reading department and the PTO did a fabulous job in bridging the age gap and finding Thomas Warren for the students to enjoy. All the students thought it was fabulous.

We are looking forward to the Young Authors' celebration in April when Deborah Freedman comes and shares her experiences writing books with our students.Writing workshops with grade levels will enhance the students love of books and help them to become better writers.

The third grade students will have Judy Collier visit in April. Julie Collier works out of Massachusetts. She helps rehabilitate birds of prey that are sick or injured. The birds she can not release back into the wild stay with her at her house and she uses some of them for educational shows. Judy will be bringing the birds she has and will educate the third grade students about the raptor's adaptations and characteristics.

At the end of April Brett Daniels will explore "Music Technology" with the entire school. "Brent Daniels is an award-winning composer, producer, sound designer and recording artist who uses the latest in music technology to sculpt sound and create music. Using a digital sampling keyboard workstation, master-level musicianship, and a blend of audience participation, high energy music, information and humor, Brent creates an exciting, one-of-a-kind performance that will capture the imaginations of Brewster's students (and the faculty, too.)

The kindergarten classrooms are eagerly looking forward to "BubbleMania" sponsored by the PTO. This is a fun filled interactive assembly on the study and magic of bubbles.

The end of the year brings about music and dance. The Dance Festival is one of the most popular events for students and their families. The PTO has acquired Hip Hop Dimensions to visit with our students once again. This is a great assembly for the students as it is held the morning of the Dance Festival and puts the students in the "spirit" to dance in the afternoon.

This is just a sampling of the wonderful assemblies that the Brewster PTO has provided for our students. We are very fortunate to have such a hard working group of parents.
